In Class with your group:
Answer in essay form: Is China's one child policy beneficial or detrimental to the country? Explain your answer using the primary sources provided.

    You are writing a group five paragraph essay. Work together to finalize a thesis statement and then work on the outline together. Once your outline is complete, get to writing. You have basically the entire period besides the last 15 minutes to do this. Digital copy of outline

Include, population vocabulary, documents that we discussed as a class, and citations for those documents. This means putting (Document A) after each fact. Be sure to analyze and avoid writing in first person.

There will be both group and individual grades for this assignment.

Tuesday/Wednesday 2/10/15-2/11/15

-One child policy DBQ (see post below) 


Objective: SWBAT review primary sources and explain significance by creating a presentation and teaching the class.
Warm up: What are some components to writing a good thesis (hint: yellow sheet from last semester)? If you were going to argue whether or not China’s one child policy was good or bad idea how would you begin to formulate this.
Homework: Current events!!

Warm up: Given the information that we learned last week about the One Child Policy, has your opinion changed? Why or why not?
Homework: Current Events.

One Child Policy from Class

We watched this in class on Thursday/Friday. Please take notes on the back of the graphic organizer about the consequences of the one child policy.

One Child Policy DBQ

Objective: Given access to several primary source materials dealing with the various components effecting the One Child Policy in China, students will be able to explain with supporting detail their opinion on if the policy was a good idea or a bad idea, using a chart to identify the various strengths and weaknesses of the system.

Instructions: 
1. The class will be divided into seven groups
2. Each group will be assigned one of the documents found in this folder: One Child Policy Documents 
3. Each group will create a presentations about their document 
Before you make a presentation, open your document, open the note taking guide. With your group, answer the questions for YOUR document on the copy of your note taking guide. 
When you finish answering the questions, begin to make a presentation.
   Presentations need to include: 
       - a screen shot of your document
       - the significance of your document
       - any other specifics found on the note taking guide
      - how does your document relate to the one child policy. 
           (remember to "make a copy" of the note taking guide) 

4. While each group is going please take notes on the note taking chart (students who are off topic will incur the wrath of Cohen) :)
